How to Clean Your Medieval Moccasins

What ho, happy feet family! With a little care, your Medieval Moccasins should give you years of comfort and wear. Here are some helpful tips to keep them clean and long-lasting! There are 3 kinds of leather, and they are cleaned in different ways (Regular, Metallic, and Suede). Make sure to keep in mind the type of leather so you can care for them effectively!

Light cleaning (monthly): Once you start to notice dirt and scuffs, it’s time to wipe your shoes off. Baby wipes or soft, damp clothes are a great trick for a quick clean-up and a little conditioning. Regular: Wipe the dirt away using a small circular motion. Don’t dampen the towel too much!

Metallic: Be gentle so as not to cause the metallic coating to wear away.

Suede: Do not use a damp cloth! Instead, use a suede brush and/or beat the shoes together to remove dirt.

Conditioning (twice yearly): Moisturize your shoes with lotion or leather conditioner at least twice a year. Leather ages and needs regular conditioning to remain supple, and prevent dryness, dullness, and cracking. Anything you use on your own skin should be fine for the leather!

Regular: moisturize the outside and inside

Metallic and Suede: moisturize ONLY the inside

Deep cleaning (yearly): (Regular leather ONLY) Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. No soap or detergent! To dry, stuff with tissue paper and air-dry naturally. DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE DRYER!

Metallic: wipe away dirt with a soft, damp cloth and let air-dry

Suede: To keep suede looking fresh, treat with Scotch Guard and repeat Scotch Guard treatments per manufacturer instructions. Suede can be washed but will appear stiff when dry and soften as the shoes are worn.
